Digestive Health

The incidence of any digestive issue is more commonly seen in recent years than they have done in the past. A document published by the Worldgastroenterology.org estimated the prevalence of digestive disorders and diseases on human health under a global worldwide perspective (Guarner et al.). They found that 1 out of every 6 persons all over the world had high prevalent disorders relating to gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, functional constipation and irritable bowel syndrome. It was also found that the incidence of infectious Intestinal Disease in the U.K was substantial, with around 1 in 4 of the population suffering from an episode in a year, which is up to 17 million cases annually (Tam CC, Rodrigues LC, Viviani L et al. 2011).

Now, this clearly is a cause for concern and more to the point the rate of prevalence is too significant to ignore, that there is more to what we think we know. However, what we can presently do, is to educate ourselves on the contributing factors, identify what underlying issues have impacted our digestive system and to what extent, and to re-establish recovery and strength.
